Autism (ASD)
Autism is a condition that affects how someone communicates, processes sensory information, and follows routines or interests. It exists on a spectrum and does not look the same in every adult, and many individuals develop effective strategies to manage symptoms with the proper support.

Common signs
- Differences in social communication, such as challenges with non-literal language, social cues, or reciprocal conversation
- Sensory sensitivities or a preference for routine, structure, and predictability
- Intense, focused interests or repetitive behaviours that provide comfort and regulation
How Athamind can help
We work with adults. Care is fully virtual and available across Ontario, with no office to travel to.
Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is not part of the ADHD Assessment or the Full Comprehensive Assessment. We recommend an Autism (ASD) Assessment. It uses the Autism Spectrum Rating Scales (ASRS) and structured clinical interviews, and it can include a review of school records or earlier reports. The written report can support accommodation requests.
Psychotherapy can sit alongside that assessment, or on its own. Sessions are 50 minutes and can focus on social communication, sensory load, and routines. Therapy does not produce the assessment report.
