Depression

Depression can feel like a sadness that stays with you, and a loss of interest in things that used to matter. It can significantly affect daily functioning, relationships, and overall quality of life.

Depression is listed on its own. Other mood disorders, including bipolar disorder and cyclothymia, are described separately.

Common signs

  • Persistent feelings of sadness, emptiness, or hopelessness
  • Significant changes in sleep, appetite, and energy levels
  • Difficulty concentrating and making decisions, often accompanied by feelings of worthlessness

How Athamind can help

We work with adults. Care is fully virtual and available across Ontario, with no office to travel to.

For depression, including when anxiety, trauma, or ADHD may also be involved, we recommend a Full Comprehensive Assessment. An ADHD Assessment does not cover depression. The written report can support accommodation requests.

Psychotherapy for depression is ongoing support in 50-minute sessions, aimed at mood, energy, and the routines that have gotten harder. It does not replace the written report from an assessment.
